Biography

Peter Samu, born on 17 December 1991, is an experienced Australian back-row forward who brings genuine Test pedigree to the NSW Waratahs. A powerful blindside flanker, he is renowned for his strong ball-carrying, his work at the breakdown and an ability to link play in the wider channels that sets him apart from many tight forwards. Samu has represented the Wallabies and carries a wealth of Super Rugby experience, having spent time with the Crusaders before establishing himself firmly in Australian rugby. At the Waratahs, his physicality and work rate are central to the team's defensive structure and the contest for possession at the ruck. Beyond his on-field contribution, a forward of his experience offers significant value in the dressing room and on the training ground, helping to guide younger players coming through the squad. As one of the more seasoned heads in the pack, Samu provides on-field leadership and the composure of a player who has performed under pressure at the highest level. Those qualities make him a valuable presence for a Waratahs side blending established professionals with emerging talent.
