Biography
Pierre Bourgarit is a French hooker, born on 12 September 1997, who has become one of the most recognisable forwards in the Stade Rochelais pack during the club's recent era at the top of European rugby. He has also been capped at senior level by France, sitting inside a deep and highly competitive pool of Les Bleus hookers.
Bourgarit's game is built on abrasive, front-foot carrying and a relentless work-rate at the breakdown. He is a willing collision forward who attacks the gain-line hard in tight channels, and he pairs that physicality with the accurate lineout throwing and scrum detail required at the top end of the Top 14. His defensive profile around the field, including repeat tackling and counter-ruck threat, makes him a key cog in La Rochelle's forward system.
Club-wise, he has been part of the Stade Rochelais group that lifted back-to-back Investec Champions Cup titles in 2022 and 2023, a defining period of French club rugby. On the Test stage he has added caps for France across successive international windows.
Now a senior member of the La Rochelle front row, Bourgarit remains a core physical presence in one of Europe's most feared packs.
