Biography

Rio Dyer emerged as one of the brightest attacking talents to come through the Welsh regional system in recent years. Born on 21 December 1999, the winger established himself with the Dragons before earning international recognition with Wales, breaking into the senior squad in 2022 and quickly becoming a regular selection. His pace and finishing saw him retain his place through a competitive period for Welsh wings, and he featured for his country at the 2023 Rugby World Cup. Dyer's game is built on directness and a genuine turn of speed, allowing him to finish chances out wide and to chase and contest kicks effectively. He combines that attacking threat with a willingness to work hard off the ball, providing width to the Welsh and Dragons backlines. His primary role is as a try-scoring wing whose finishing ability stretches defences and rewards the structured attacking play built inside him, and his pace remains a clear asset every time the ball is moved to the touchline.
