Biography

A product of the celebrated Stade Toulousain academy, Roméo Martin-Bonnard (born 1 September 2006) is a back-row forward still in the formative stages of his professional career. Operating primarily as a flanker, he is valued for his energy at the breakdown and an appetite for the defensive work that underpins Toulouse's high-tempo, all-court forward play. At nineteen, Martin-Bonnard represents part of the next generation coming through one of European rugby's most productive talent pipelines, an environment that has long demanded technical polish as well as physical commitment from its young forwards. His game is built around work rate — chasing kicks, hitting rucks and putting in the unseen tackles that allow more decorated team-mates to express themselves. As with most academy graduates at a club of Toulouse's standing, his progression will be measured gradually, with first-team minutes earned against intense internal competition. As he continues to add size, strength and experience, Martin-Bonnard offers the club a tenacious, low-maintenance option for the loose forwards and useful depth across the back row, profiling as a player to track in the seasons ahead.
