Biography
Ryan Woodman, a Welsh flanker born on 2 February 2004, is a young back-row forward developing within the Dragons set-up in the United Rugby Championship. Woodman has progressed through the Welsh age-grade pathway, gaining the kind of structured exposure that the regional system has prioritised in recent years as it has worked to plug gaps left by senior departures. As a flanker still in the early phase of his professional career, his game centres on the standard openside and blindside foundations — a high tackle count, persistent breakdown engagement, and the supporting carry work that loose forwards in modern URC rugby are expected to deliver. The Dragons have prioritised giving back-row prospects extended senior minutes during their multi-season rebuild, and Woodman has been one of the players to benefit from that approach. With his development still very much underway, his trajectory will be shaped by the volume and quality of senior URC and Challenge Cup match experience he accumulates over the next two seasons. He is part of a younger cohort at the region whose continued growth is central to the long-term coaching vision being pursued at Rodney Parade.
