Biography

An academy graduate of ASM Clermont Auvergne, Sacha Lotrian is a flanker building his reputation in the demanding environment of French club rugby. Born on 13 August 2000, he embodies the qualities expected of a modern openside: a high work rate at the breakdown, strong defensive tackling and the engine to be involved in phase after phase. Lotrian came through the Clermont pathway, a system with a strong record of producing committed forwards, and his game is characterised by industry and reliability rather than flash. Still relatively early in his senior career, he is focused on translating his physical attributes and academy grounding into consistent first-team minutes. As a flanker he offers a nuisance presence over the ball, a willing tackler in defence and a forward prepared to do the hard graft in the tight exchanges. For Clermont, Lotrian represents a homegrown option in the loose forwards, the type of player a club values for his combative spirit and his understanding of the standards demanded at the top of the Top 14.
