Biography

Born in New Zealand and now based in the west of Ireland, Shamus Hurley-Langton is a back-row forward with Connacht Rugby. Born on 22 April 2000, he brought a typically southern-hemisphere edge to the breakdown when he joined the province, combining strong carrying with a disruptive presence over the ball. His game is defined by a high work rate, aggressive defence and a willingness to do the unglamorous work that underpins a forward pack. As a flanker he is tasked with contesting rucks, hitting the gain line and providing relentless energy across the eighty minutes. Having developed his rugby in New Zealand before making the move north, he brings a familiar blend of physicality and mobility to the European game. That skillset has made him a useful component of Connacht's loose-forward options, and his hard-working, abrasive approach continues to be an asset to the side's back row as he establishes himself in the province's set-up.
