Biography

Sikhumbuzo Notshe is a South African back-rower who has carried Springbok pedigree into the French game with Pro D2 club US Montauban. Born on 28 May 1993, he came through Western Province before establishing himself with the Stormers, where he spent six seasons between 2014 and 2019 as a mobile, ball-carrying forward equally comfortable at number eight or blindside flanker. A spell with the Sharks followed from 2020 to 2024, after which he moved to France to join Montauban ahead of the 2024-25 campaign. Notshe won six Test caps for South Africa between 2018 and 2022, and also represented the South Africa 'A' side. Earlier in his career he featured for the national sevens programme during the 2017-18 World Rugby Sevens Series. Primarily a number eight, he is valued for his athleticism in open play, his work over the ball and the leadership he brings as a senior figure in the Montauban pack. Now into the experienced phase of his career, he offers the French club a blend of southern-hemisphere know-how and physical presence in the Pro D2.
