Biography
Tongan international Sione Vailanu brings raw physicality to the heart of Glasgow Warriors' back row. Born on 27 January 1995, the flanker joined the Scottish side in 2023 following spells in England with Saracens and Worcester Warriors, adding considerable power and experience to the forward pack. Vailanu is renowned for explosive ball-carrying and strong work at the breakdown, often taking on the role of a direct gain-line breaker who generates go-forward ball for his side's attack. His ability to make ground in contact and offload through the tackle gives Glasgow an aggressive carrying option, while his presence at the ruck adds steel to their contest for possession. Having represented Tonga at international level, he blends southern-hemisphere physicality with the demands of the northern club game. For the Warriors he offers impact whether starting or arriving from the bench, providing the kind of momentum-shifting carries that can unsettle defences. Direct and powerful, Vailanu has become a valued member of Glasgow's pack since his arrival.
