Biography

A product of the New South Wales Waratahs' academy system, Siosifa Amone is a flanker who has worked his way into the franchise's senior forward picture. Born on 25 February 2002, he brings the blend of physicality and mobility that the modern back row demands, having progressed through the development pathway on the strength of his aggressive defensive work and his effectiveness over the ball. Amone's game centres on the breakdown, where he competes hard for turnovers and looks to disrupt opposition possession, and on a defensive shift built around committed, front-line tackling. He adds energy and athleticism to the Waratahs pack, capable of covering ground in the loose as well as doing the close-quarters work around the ruck. As a developing forward, his task is to convert that raw physical promise into consistent senior output, building the durability and game understanding required to hold down a regular role in Super Rugby. The Waratahs environment gives him a competitive stage on which to test himself against established back-row operators. Still early in his career, Amone profiles as a combative, high-energy flanker whose value lies in his work rate, his turnover threat and the abrasive edge he brings to the contact area.
