Biography

Few young backs in South African rugby carry as much attacking promise as Suleiman Hartzenberg. Born on 20 May 2003 and a product of the Western Province system, he has emerged as an explosive outside back for the Stormers, equally comfortable on the wing or at outside centre. His game is built on genuine pace, strong finishing and the power to break tackles and force gain-line advantage. Hartzenberg announced himself by scoring on his Super Rugby debut and was part of the Stormers squad that lifted the 2022-23 United Rugby Championship title, a significant early honour for a player still in the formative years of his career. Often introduced to inject energy and directness into the backline, he offers a dynamic attacking outlet capable of shifting momentum in tight contests. With his blend of speed and physicality, Hartzenberg is regarded as one of the brighter prospects to emerge from the Cape franchise, and sustained consistency at senior level is the next step in his development.
