Biography

An experienced fly-half, Thomas Fortunel has been a fixture of French second-tier rugby across more than a decade in the professional game. Born on 7 June 1995, the French No. 10 is a product of the US Montauban academy and has spent the bulk of his career steering the Tarn-et-Garonne club around the Pro D2. After a spell with FC Grenoble between 2021 and 2023, Fortunel returned to Montauban, where his game management and goal-kicking have made him a dependable presence at the controls. His standout achievement came in 2025, when he helped Montauban win the Pro D2 championship, playing in the final as the club secured a major domestic title. With well over a hundred career starts at fly-half, Fortunel brings the kind of accumulated experience and tactical control that anchors a side through the demands of a long league campaign. He has not been capped at senior international level, his career instead defined by consistency and longevity at club level. As one of the more seasoned playmakers in his division, Fortunel remains central to Montauban's ambitions, combining a reliable boot with the composure that comes from years directing play in the professional ranks.
