Biography
Thomas Young has long been regarded as one of the most effective breakdown operators in Welsh rugby, and the openside flanker brings that pedigree to the Dragons. Born on 18 May 1992, Young made his name through a relentless work rate and an instinct for the jackal, repeatedly winning turnover ball and slowing opposition possession at the ruck. Capped by Wales, he carries valuable international experience into a Dragons pack that leans on his nous and competitiveness. Young's influence is felt across the field: he is an industrious presence in defence, a willing tackler, and a flanker who reads the game well enough to be in the right place when a contest for the ball arises. His effectiveness over the ball makes him a constant nuisance for opposition fly-halves and forwards alike, forcing penalties and disrupting attacking rhythm. Beyond the technical side of his game, Young offers leadership and example, setting the tone for the forward effort and bringing senior calm to pressured passages. For the Dragons, he represents both quality and continuity, a specialist seven whose breakdown craft and defensive prowess remain central to how the side competes up front.
