Toine Obiang Nguema

Still in the early stages of a promising career, Toine Obiang Nguema is a young prop developing within the pathway at Stade Rochelais, one of the powerhouses of French and European rugby. Born on 14 June 2006, he has progressed through the club's academy system, where his scrummaging and physical attributes have marked him out as a forward to watch. He has also gained representative experience with the Netherlands as he builds his profile in the game. As a front-row forward, his focus is on the fundamentals of the position: developing the technique and strength needed to hold up at scrum time and to contribute in the physical exchanges around the field. At this stage of his career the emphasis is firmly on growth, and his role is to learn within a highly competitive environment at La Rochelle while working towards the set-piece stability and physical impact that define an established Top 14 prop.
