Biography

Tom Botha is a South African tighthead prop who has brought considerable front-row experience to the Ospreys in Welsh rugby. Born on 31 August 1990, he built his reputation in South African domestic and franchise rugby before moving to the United Rugby Championship. Botha is a powerful, technical scrummager whose primary strength lies in providing stability at the set-piece. His compact frame, low body position and strong core allow him to compete effectively against larger opposition looseheads, and his experience in the tight means he rarely looks rushed under pressure. At international level, Botha earned a Springbok cap, underlining his standing among a deep pool of South African front-row talent. Since arriving at the Ospreys, he has been tasked with bringing senior know-how to a scrum unit built around emerging talent, adding composure and professional standards to daily training. His role in the matchday squad is typically to offer either an impactful start or a fresh, physical option from the bench as games enter their closing quarter.
