Biography

Tom Currie is a flanker on the books at Edinburgh Rugby, the Scottish capital's URC franchise. Born on 21 September 2004, he has progressed through the club's pathway as one of a number of young back-row prospects being developed at Hive Stadium. As a flanker, Currie's role centres on the fundamentals that define modern loose forwards: work at the breakdown, defensive line-speed, and support play in the wider channels. Openside and blindside flankers in the URC are expected to contribute high tackle counts, compete for turnovers, and carry in traffic, and Currie is being groomed within that mould at Edinburgh. Edinburgh Rugby has a strong record of integrating academy flankers into senior selection, with the club routinely rotating back-row options across league and European fixtures. Currie's continued development in that environment places him alongside a competitive group of forwards vying for game time. Off the pitch, his age profile means much of his rugby career still lies ahead of him. Supporters of Scottish rugby will watch to see how his game evolves as he accumulates senior minutes and builds a body of work at professional level.
