Biography
An Australian international outside back, Tom Wright operates across the back three for the ACT Brumbies in Super Rugby Pacific and has accumulated significant Test experience with the Wallabies. Born on 21 July 1997, he made the switch from rugby league earlier in his career, joining the Brumbies and progressing into one of the Wallabies' more regular back-three selections through the early 2020s. His game is built around broken-field running, footwork in tight spaces and an ability to read counter-attacking opportunities, while his work under the high ball has become an increasingly important part of a Wallabies wing or fullback's job description. The Brumbies, traditionally one of Australian rugby's most structured and consistent franchises, have given Wright a platform on which to develop the defensive responsibilities of the back three alongside his attacking strengths. He has featured across the wing and at fullback for both club and country, the kind of versatility national coaching staffs increasingly value. As a senior figure within the Brumbies backline, Wright continues to combine the finishing instincts of a winger with the broader spatial responsibilities of a fullback.
