Biography
Vaiuta Latu is a young Australian forward who has come through the Queensland Reds' pathway, born on 2 June 2005. A blindside flanker by trade, he is known for the physical edge he brings to the breakdown and for the strong ball-carrying that makes him a useful momentum-generator in the tight. Latu's game centres on the contact area. He looks to contest possession at the ruck, provide defensive grit and add forward drive when the Reds are building phases. As one of the younger members of the forward setup, his role has been to push for involvement and develop the consistency required to establish himself in the demanding Super Rugby Pacific competition. The blindside position calls for a blend of physicality and discipline, and Latu has been working to round out those aspects of his game as he gains exposure to senior rugby. His emergence reflects the depth coming through the Queensland system, where young forwards are given the platform to test themselves against experienced opposition. Powerful and willing in the collisions, he represents a promising prospect for the Reds as he looks to convert raw physical attributes into a settled professional career.
