Biography

A Fijian-born back-row forward, Veresa Tuqovu Ramototabua brings power and energy to the Castres Olympique pack in France's Top 14. Born on 12 June 2000, he developed through age-grade rugby with Fiji before moving into the demanding environment of French club rugby. Ramototabua is a physical operator who carries hard, tackles aggressively and looks to make an impact at the breakdown — the type of abrasive forward well suited to the forward-oriented style Castres favour. His role is to provide go-forward ball, win collisions and add a defensive edge across the loose forwards. Like many islanders who make the move to the Top 14, he combines natural athleticism with the conditioning required to handle one of Europe's most physically uncompromising leagues. Still in the earlier stages of his club career, Ramototabua is working to nail down a regular role and turn his raw physical gifts into consistent week-to-week performances for Castres.
