Biography
Wes Goosen has brought a wealth of Super Rugby experience to Edinburgh's back three since joining the Scottish club in 2022. Born in 1995, the outside back spent the formative years of his professional career with the Hurricanes in New Zealand, where he scored 30 tries in 66 appearances and built a reputation as a sharp, reliable finisher. Equally comfortable on the wing or at fullback, Goosen offers Edinburgh versatility across the back positions along with the composure of a seasoned campaigner. His game is built on intelligent positioning, strong running lines and dependable work under the high ball, qualities that make him a trusted operator in both attack and defence. Since arriving in the United Rugby Championship he has become a settled part of the Edinburgh squad, signing a contract extension and adding try-scoring threat to the side's back-line rotation. Goosen's experience in a high-tempo Super Rugby environment has translated well to the demands of European club rugby, where his finishing and game awareness add value. For Edinburgh he provides a steady, experienced presence in the back three, capable of covering multiple roles and delivering consistent performances week to week as the club competes across the URC and in Europe.
