Biography

A France international back-row forward, Yacouba Camara has been one of the more athletic loose forwards of his generation in the Top 14. Born on 2 June 1994, he made his name as a dynamic, ball-carrying flanker before joining Montpellier Hérault Rugby, where his blend of size, mobility and aggression has made him a prominent presence in the pack. Camara combines genuine carrying threat in the loose with strong defensive numbers and competitiveness at the breakdown, the kind of all-round forward who can influence a match in attack and defence alike. Capped at senior level by France, he brings international pedigree and leadership to the Montpellier loose forwards, having tested himself against the best in both the international arena and Europe's premier club competition. His athleticism — the ability to carry hard, get off the floor quickly and cover ground in defence — has always set him apart, and that physical platform allows him to contribute across the full breadth of back-row duties. Experienced and physically imposing, Camara offers Montpellier both a hard edge up front and the calm of a player who has performed at the highest levels of the game.
