Biography
Born on 21 May 2002, French hooker Yohan Orabe plays his club rugby for Aviron Bayonnais in the Top 14. A product of the Basque club's academy system, he developed through Bayonne's junior pathways before progressing into the senior squad. As a front-row forward, his game is built around set-piece responsibilities — throwing into the lineout, scrummaging and providing impact in close-quarter contact — alongside the breakdown and carrying work expected of modern hookers. Orabe has been part of Bayonne squads competing in both the Pro D2 and the Top 14, gaining experience in the demanding environment of French professional rugby. Still in the earlier stages of his senior career, he represents the next generation of homegrown forwards coming through at Jean-Dauger, a club with a strong tradition of producing front-row talent from its region. His progression will continue to be shaped by competition for places in one of the deepest hooker rotations in French club rugby, where consistency in core set-piece duties is the primary route to regular game time at the elite level.
